Hello everyone, Matthew Hemenway here. In this video and blog post, I will be reviewing and analyzing Baymax that is currently on Disney+ done by Walt Disney Animation studios. I will go over several topics in this video and let you know if it honors the Big Hero 6 lore that has been created since the first movie and the series that was done on Disney XD. I will give you my rating at the end of this video and blog post.
Before I start the review, if you are watching this early, you are either a patron or a member of my channel. This means you signed up for Patreon or you signed up for YouTube memberships. Thank you for that. This means you are helping me, and this channel be better. If you are getting access to the blog, it means you subscribe to the blog on my website. Thank you for that. Now on with the review.
This series is a bunch of shorts, and they have different situations where Bay Max is helping people with different problems. Each person has a different problem. In the first Episode, Cass falls over a stool with wheels and sprains her ankle. Bay Max must help her to realize she needs to take care of it. He tells her, you need to close the café for 5 to 7 days. Cass tells Bay Max, I cannot afford to do it, or I will not have any customers. Bay Max tells her; I will help you with running the business. Cass tells him, you cannot do it that quickly by downloading it. Bay Max works on it and according to Cass, it is not going as well as she hopes. To her, this is a disaster. Her customers later tell her that you need to focus on getting better as found her spy Cam on her cat M.
The second episode deals with Kiko who Baymax helps to deal with her hip pain. Baymax tells her you need to swim in water. Swimming will help with her hip pain. At first, the viewer thinks, she is afraid of water. Later, the viewer finds out that she is not, she is afraid of the building the pool was at. She tells him, it is not water that I am afraid of, it is this place. My husband loved water and told me to live a little bit. Baymax told her; it is not too late to live a little bit. Kiko realizes that and goes in the pool thanks to Bay Max.
The third episode deals with the girl named Sofia who is getting ready to compete in a talent show. Sofia suddenly has her period. Baymax goes in to check on her. He later finds out that she is menstruating. Baymax goes to the store to buy tampons. Baymax does not give up until he tells her that you are still kid even though this is happening since you are 12 years old. Sofia realizes that and decides to compete in the talent show.
The fourth episode deals with Baymax helping out Mbita. What Mbita deals with is that he finds out he is allergic to fish. His family has been cooking with fish, and they have run a food truck for years. He is scared if he stops serving fish; he will not have a business anymore. He told Bay Max after he helps him, I do not know what to do, my father was so courageous as he started this business from nothing. Bay Max tells him, change is hard, but you can do it. Be like your father and be courageous. Mbita realizes that and decides to do what Baymax tells him.
The fifth episode deals with a cat named Yachi who has swallowed an object. He swallowed one of those wireless headphones and Baymax helps him to get it out. It takes Baymax awhile to get it, but he gets it out. It will lead to Baymax running out of power.
The sixth episode deals with Baymax getting help from all his patients. I will not reveal more details, but they all come together to help him.
I give Baymax Season 1, a 10 out of 10. I thought it was well done and did an excellent job of connecting to the movie and the Big Hero 6 TV series that was on Disney XD. It went back to the movie and did what Hiro’s brother wanted Baymax to be doing. Baymax was supposed to be a healthcare companion. He is a big lovable robot that you can hug. As Fred said in the movie, it is like hugging a marshmallow. He can pop like a balloon. I personally always enjoying watching these characters.
